But his son needs someone to teach to bake him a cake and Max Evers, King of the Divorced Dad Dinner from a Can, will take any help available. What harm can come from baking a cake? With the full moon rising, a meddling grandmother, a fiancé who prefers blondes, a possessed toilet, a bad haircut and a poker game gone wrong, Ellie and Max find that a little trouble can make all difference in the world.
Terri Hammond wrote Up on the Roof to complete the coursework for her Master of Arts in Creative Writing degree from Miami University. Terri Hammond lives in Monroe, Ohio. She graduated from Lemon-Monroe in 1981. Unlike her heroine in Up on the Roof, Terri has never tarred herself to a roof, but she has become a sticky mess from patching her roof. She has published short stories on the internet and was the co-recipient of the Paul Laurence Dunbar Poetry Prize in 1992. Much to her parents delight and horror, she has earned three degrees from Miami University. She works in a call center answering customers’ difficult questions like “Are you a real person or a computer?” Her blog is www.wordsandwreaths.typepad.com.
